Chancel ChoirWelcome! Our Chancel Choir is a group of people who have a special ministry in St. Paul's congregation. We gather for weekly rehearsals on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM (sometimes Thursday nights during Advent and Lent). During our hour-long rehearsals, we work on music that is tied into the themes of the Sunday lessons. Usually we sing one anthem following the first Scripture lesson; but on festival days it is not uncommon for us to sing two anthems. We also are available to sing other various parts of the worship service as asked. We sing at 10:30 AM the second, third and fifth Sundays of the month, at 8:00 AM the second and fourth Sundays of the month, and at each service held on festival Sundays. We strive to provide the most meaningful music of our Lutheran heritage in the best manner possible. Our group averages between 10 and 14 singers, but we always welcome additional people! On occasion, we have combined forces with the Kids Choir to do special anthems as well as enhancements on hymns sung by the congregation. We have also made plans in the future to join forces with other choirs of our Circuit for special events. We are a dedicated group of people who believe in the power of music as an important part of worship and teaching here at St. Paul's, and genuinely enjoy doing it! We invite you to join us in our musical and spiritual journey. Duane Esterly, Cantor |
